History of Islam

The religion of Islam is not named after a person or a tribe. Instead it is the true religion of “Allah” and thus its name represents the central principle of Allah's "God's" religion; the total submission to the will of Allah "God". The Arabic word "Islam" means the submission or surrender of one's will to the only true god worthy of worship "Allah" and anyone who does so is termed a Muslim. The word also means peace which is the natural consequence of total submission to the will of Allah. Islam is the religion given to Adam, the first man and the first prophet of Allah, and it was the religion of all the prophets sent by Allah to mankind. The name was given by Allah himself and in the final book of divine revelation, the Qur'aan, holds all that Allah wanted his followers to believe. Islam is the worship of Allah alone and the avoidance of worship directed to any person, place or thing other than Allah. It is the belief that everything was created by Allah so when someone prays to sculpture and their prayers are answered, they are essentially praying to Allah and he was the one who answered the prayer.

Rites

Death Rites

When a Muslim dies the family and community takes to major traditions in order make sure he/she has a superior after life. Muslims believe that death is an exodus from their life in this world, but not the end of their existence. They believe that eternal life is to come, and pray for God's compassion to be with the departed, with the idea that will find happiness in their after life. They prepare the dead for washing, shrouding, prayer services and burial. It is important the body is buried quickly after he/she passes away.
