The Art of Islam

The essence of Islamic art aims to express an encounter with a Devine Presence. From the Islamic perspective art is to imitation or description of nature, because art will never be equal to god, but the shaping of human experience. The art endows all the subjects of which man surrounds himself by-his house, his farm, his vessel. Islamic art does not does not add to subjects but more brings out the qualities of which they posses. There are many different branches of Islamic art. The first is textiles; textiles are used in clothing and jewelry such as gold and silver. Other branches are pottery and architecture. The principle types of Ismamic architecture are Mosque, the tomb, the palace and the fort.

I would've liked to see some examples of Islamic art and/or architecture. Also did you guys find any information regarding the rendition of God or the Prophet Mohammad in art?
